Though it’s months away, we couldn’t be more excited about the Nasher Sculpture Center’s first family fundraiser, The Great Create: By Artists. For Kids.

The April 28, 2013 event is billed as “a celebration of youth art education and appreciation,” and will feature an afternoon of hands-on art activities and workshops in the Nasher Garden led by local and world-renowned artists.

The program, geared toward children 12 and under (teens ages 13 and up are invited to serve as “Art Ambassadors” to assist the artists and younger attendees), will also include live entertainment and plenty of eats. The best part? All proceeds from the event will enable the Nasher Sculpture Center to continue providing youth education programs, such as the 3:01 Club after-school program, Summer Institute for Teens, and free student tours.

Earlier this month, The Create Create steering committee met at the home of event co-chairs Megan and Brady Wood to kick-off the event. Suffice to say, the creative juices were flowing…We’re counting the days until April 28!

More snaps from the kick-off party after the jump…
