Who she is: Mom of one (insanely adorable) baby girl and proprietor of the 2012 Best of Big D winning children’s shop Little Bean.
Why we love her: Where do we start? Of course there’s the fact that she’s at the helm of the coolest, most unique kids shop in Dallas, bringing interesting, well-made, Brooklyn-worthy goods for the pint-sized set to our fair city. But then there’s her obsession with/commitment to a black uniform, her gusto for a good dessert, her fashion editor-esque personal style, her commitment to living in the moment, her unwavering belief in “once in a lifetime” love… We could go on for days, but let’s get to the good stuff.
Herewith a peek into Bianca’s world.
On her iPod: The Avett Brothers, Mumford & Sons, Amanda Shires, Ryan Bingham, and The Jayhawks. Oh! And Guster. Always Guster.
What she’s reading: The Magic Circus, I was told it’s like Harry Potter for adults and it really is, it’s a beautiful dark love story.
Always in her handbag: I have an Alexander Wang backpack, and I will never ever change handbags again. It is liberating in how dorky I feel wearing a backpack and how unbelievably useful it is. Always in my pack: a glitter bib, Clean Well All Natural Hand Sanitizer (like five of these), Kiehl’s Lip Balm #1, Osis Dust It Mattifying Powder for my mousey hair, Trident Peppermint gum, some seriously cat-eye sunglasses, an assortment of packages of Baby Mum Mums and organic Jammy Sammy’s. (I love the name of both of those products.)
Her go-to outfit: My sisters joke that it’s a black cat suit, which is black leggings and black painter’s tunics.
Currently gracing her wish list: More cat suits? Seriously though, for fall I was all about the YSL Mae black suede pumps with the metallic gold tips, and now I’m obsessed with Jenni Kayne suede D’Orsay flats. I’d also take MiH Marrakesh jeans in any colorway. The fit makes me feel like Gywneth Paltrow, very rock star wife who also rocks motherhood.
Her mealtime haunts: I love the Company Cafe for baby brunch because they have these tiny blueberry pancakes that my daughter loves. My family loves going to R&D Kitchen because they are kid friendly with an adult friendly menu. And for lunch you can find me at Short Stop with friends, my daughter, or by myself. I am obsessed with their cheesecake brownie.
Her favorite family outing: Recently I took my daughter to the Dallas Children’s Theater to see Pinkalicious the musical and it was darling. We are currently on a personal park tour of Dallas and she likes the park at Armstrong Elementary is the best. Oh and I’m so happy that the Perot Museum of Nature & Science has finally opened!
Her tip for balancing work and family: I am constantly updating the balance to fit the needs of the day. I try to tackle it in a ‘one day at a time’ motto. When I am with my daughter I make her the focus so that I can eliminate the working mother’s guilt. And when I am at work I make my to do lists and plow through them so when I get home I am not thinking about how I wish I had taken care of something at work. At my core I am an efficiency nut and I think if I focus 100% in each moment and each task then I know at the end of the day that I gave it my all.
