(My five year old cruising around her favorite hood, Bishop Arts.)
The weekend is upon us friends, and I, for one, couldn’t be more ready for it (who’s with me). Here’s what’s going down in our fair city for your planning pleasure.
Late Nights at The Dallas Museum of Art
First up there’s tonight’s “Late Nights” at the DMA from 6:00 p.m.–midnight. It’s the last one of the year, and the good folks at the museum are pulling out all the stops with collage-making, yoga for kids, French music performed by the Matt Tolentino band, bedtime stories with Arturo, and a performance by Lone Star Circus featuring acrobats, contortionists, and other cirque style performers (whew!). And those of you with night owls (e.g. my 9-year-old daughter) can catch the musical stylings of Air Review at 9:00 p.m.
Soap Hope Pop-Up Shop
On Saturday hit the opening day of the Soap Hope pop-up shop at The Shops at Park Lane. Soap Hope is the founding company behind Good Returns (yep, the same Good Returns that Chooze is a part of) which commits every dollar of profit earned to an institution that uses it to solve world problems. After those profits have spent a year in service, the money is returned to Soap Hope. Per Soap Founder Salah Boukadoum, “Good Returns is like the Peace Corps for money: we volunteer every dollar for a year of service.”
The pop-up shop will be stocked with all manner of eco-friendly bath and beauty products for gifting (and receiving). Bonus: the pop-up shop also boasts a children’s play area so you can shop while the littles get their fun on. To get on the list for Soap Hope pop-up news, products and offers, e-mail the word “subscribe” to email@example.com.
Then on Saturday evening meander downtown for City Lights (thanks for the reminder Liz!) all along Main Street. In addition to the tree lighting and ceremony that concludes with a visit from Santa, there will be an outdoor market, face-painting, ornament-making, music, food and more. Be sure to let the littles crawl through the Neiman Marcus window display (by far one of the highlights of the holiday season for my girlies.)
Cliff Fest in Bishop Arts
Finally on Sunday from 12-6 p.m. there’s the 4th annual Cliff Fest featuring live music (think: Fox and the Bird, Yells at Eels, La Rondalla, Bethan, and Bona Fide Blues), art, creative activities, and tasty eats… Sounds like the perfect end to the weekend, yes?
